On Tuesday, Senior Class President Aynsley Lane ’26 announced Bishruti Rijal ’26 as the Student Commencement Speaker via email.
“We had many great candidates in the running, but we are confident that [Rijal] will be a great speaker with her excellent leadership and academic skills,” wrote Lane.
Rijal is an international student from Kathmandu, Nepal, graduating with a major in Biology and a minor in Neuroscience. She has conducted research in the Psychology Department, along with participating in two summers of the X-Sig program for Biology and Psychology labs. In her career, Rijal would like to apply her knowledge in biology and neuroscience to work in translational medicine or neurogenetics.
Beyond academics, Rijal is a member of the sorority Alpha Omicron Pi and is a Resident Coordinator, having worked for Residential Education for three years. She is also a student assistant at the Center for Global Education and previously served as a tour guide. She participated in various programs with the Garthwait Leadership Center, the Center for Public Service, and the Eisenhower Institute throughout her time at Gettysburg as well.
Speaking to The Gettysburgian, Rijal expressed her gratitude at being chosen: “My four years in Gettysburg has been full of growth and so much support and being able to share my story with fellow classmates is very exciting!”
