Middle States Evaluation Team to Hold On-Campus Visit

By Laken Franchetti, Editor-in-Chief

This past week, emails were sent to the campus community from Steering Committee Co-Chairs Associate Professor of Anthropology Amy Evrard and Professor of Management Chris Zappe to update the community on the College’s process of reaccreditation, which is being made through the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE).

“Last year, our steering committee oversaw a self-study, and the final report was submitted to MSCHE in January. You can find the final report on the Institutional Analysis webpage under the Accreditation tab. On March 3-6, an evaluation team comprising peers from other institutions will visit campus and meet with multiple individuals and groups to better understand the strengths and opportunities raised in our self-study report,” the email stated.

There will be open sessions that faculty, staff and students can attend to discuss issues or concerns with the evaluation team’s representatives. These sessions will be held as follows:

Open Session for Faculty and Administration: Monday, March 4 from 4 to 5 p.m. in Mara Auditorium

Open Session for Support Staff: Tuesday, March 5 from 1 to 2 p.m. in Mara Auditorium

Open Session for Students: Tuesday, March 5 from 4 to 5 p.m. in Mara Auditorium

Evrard explained why it is important for students to attend the open session, stating, “Given that Student Success (with an emphasis on integration of the curriculum and co-curriculum) and DEI are our institutional priorities for the Self-Study process, it’s likely the evaluation team will particularly have questions for students about these.”

On the final day that the evaluation team’s representatives will be on campus, they will deliver an oral report of their findings. This session is open to the entire campus community and will take place on Wednesday, March 6 from 11 to noon in CUB 260.
