On Friday, the President’s Office officially announced the launch of a new College website that will replace the current www.gettysburg.edu site on Oct. 12 at 5 p.m..
In an effort to improve efficiency and ease of use, the College will replace the current integrated website with two new sites aimed at two different audiences.
The first is a public site intended for alumni and prospective students. This will include general information about programs, departments and initiatives that are relevant to users outside of the current campus community. It will have the gettysburg.edu domain without the preceding www.
The other site is an intranet designed for current students, faculty and staff, as it will require a Gettysburg login to access. This will resemble the current CNAV system with a landing page that includes role-based links, a campus directory and announcements. The intranet will be accessible through the my.gettysburg.edu domain.
“The College’s new websites are designed as experiences, with the needs of our communities at the center of the strategy,” said Director of Marketing and Digital Engagement Staci Grimes.
Communications and Marketing also plans to use the website upgrade to update the visual components of the current site. The new public website will feature more of the College’s new brand standards and replace much of the current dark blue color scheme with more whitespace and brighter colors. The landing page video that plays on the current site will also be replaced with static images to improve bandwidth.
The new public homepage will also include campus news and an FAQ section that will change seasonally.
The two websites will divide the same pages and information from the current site and retain a similar page format. The Digital Engagement Office has worked with department chairs and office directors to determine what current information and department webpage sections belong on which site. Department homepages will be reorganized into general overview sections on the public site for prospective students with more immersive “what it feels like tabs” to describe work in that journey and showcase student work. The intranet will contain department information that is more student-specific. This is intended to eliminate redundancy and improve accessibility for different users.
The site search features on the two sites will find information on both sites with links for switching between the two.
Initial steps into the website upgrade began in 2024 when Communications and Marketing began an audit of information about the current website. The last update to the College website was in 2019, and part of the impetus for the new launch was to make webpages more searchable with new web tools like generative AI. The project follows the separate intranet system that already exists for certain programs, including the Johnson Center for Creative Teaching and Learning.
Faculty and staff have been involved in the development process since the initial audit, and the website plans were briefly introduced at a student senate meeting in the spring 2026 semester.
College Athletics will retain its own platform separate from the new websites.
Following the launch, the new sites will have feedback banners for users to report issues, and the Digital Engagement Office will host Teams “drop-in” sessions for direct feedback.
