Former Mayor Chad-Alan Carr Faces New Charges

By Ella Prieto, Editor-in-Chief

On March 13, the former Gettysburg Borough Mayor Chad-Alan Carr was taken into custody by Pennsylvania State Police on two felony counts of Photograph/Film/Depict on Computer Sex Act-Child and a misdemeanor for corruption of minors. On April 8, new charges were filed against Carr after more individuals came forward with allegations. They include 3 new felony charges, including sexual assault and photograph/film/depict on computer sex, and two misdemeanor charges of corruption of minors.

The charging documents show that three victims came forward after Carr’s arrest in March. One individual (a minor) met Carr on the dating app Grindr in 2015 and was allegedly sexually assaulted when they met up with Carr at his apartment. Another was 18, and had moved in with Carr after meeting him at a play. The alleged sexual assault took place between December 2014 and October 2015. The third individual was allegedly groomed by Carr while attending summer camps at Eichelberger Performing Arts Center, and was allegedly requested to send explicit pictures.

A preliminary hearing for the new charges has yet to be scheduled, but Carr is set to be arraigned on April 16 for the first set of charges filed in March.
