Earlier this morning, President Iuliano sent an email to the campus community announcing the addition of three new varsity teams that will begin over the next three years. This announcement came alongside a promotional video with athletes dressed in gear for each of the three new sports.
The decision to add these sports comes after the Division III NCAA meeting in early December, where conference representatives voted on adding each of these programs to the NCAA level.
In the fall of 2026, women’s wrestling will become the 25th women’s varsity sport. The search for Gettysburg’s first Head Women’s Wrestling Coach is currently on, and the College hopes to announce that shortly.
Meanwhile, women’s acrobatics and tumbling, as well as women’s flag football, will begin their inaugural seasons in the 2027-2028 school year. The search for those head coach vacancies will begin later this spring.
The last time Gettysburg added a varsity sport was Women’s Golf in their inaugural 2000-2001 season.
Current students who will still be enrolled in the college when these sports start have been invited to complete recruiting questionnaires if they are interested in any of the three new sports.
