- Q&A
- What kind of study abroad programs fulfill language requirements?
- Intensive language programs that offer the opportunity to do two language programs in one semester.
- Do you need to have a background in language to get into an intensive language program?
- No. Some require background in the language, and some do not.
- Do you have numbers on how many students applied for the Shanghai/Mumbai program or the Aix-en-Provence program?
- No. The applications just closed.
- How should students who don’t know about the program learn more?
- Visit the CGE website, which covers the basics of the program, before meeting with an advisor
- What is the difference between Signature exchange programs and standard exchange programs?
- Standard exchange programs are run through foreign institutions, but Signature programs are led by Gettysburg College faculty
- Many students had challenges with programs because they changed after the deadline. How can students respond, and how can CGE support students through these changes?
- As an office, they no longer open applications for programs unless they are certain that the programs will run, unless a serious safety concern comes up
- Does Gettysburg receive students as part of an exchange program?
- Yes, but very few. We send more students to them than they send to us.
- How do you make an appointment with the CGE, and will that change with the new website?
- Appointments can be made by phone call, in person, by email, or on the website. That will not change with the new website
- Many students doing affiliated programs found out after applying the program did not realize they would need to travel to New York City to the consulate. Why were students not made aware of this, and why was transportation not provided?
- The consulate that students travel to depends on their home residence. The CGE provides as much information as possible, but countries have different and changing regulations, and it is the responsibility of the student to handle their own visa
- What kind of study abroad programs fulfill language requirements?
