On April 16, both the men’s and the women’s lacrosse teams defeated their opponents away and at home. The women played Dickinson College at Clark Field with a final score of 16-4. The men traveled to McDaniel to crush them 21-3.
Many players scored in the women’s game, however, the most outstanding player was Julia Daly ’26. With five goals, the attack led the offense in scoring. Behind her with two goals each were Emily Crane ’25, Sarah Scollin ’28, Sophie Smith ’25, and Nina Marra ’26. The Bullets had 21 shots on goal the entire game. While the offense was aggressive, the defense kept up, with 11 saves by the Bullets goalkeepers. Juliette deVarenne ’25 played most of the game and totaled nine saves with only four goals allowed. The Gettysburg women’s lacrosse team proved their #4 ranking.
Similar to the women, the men’s lacrosse team also had its scoring spread out among the team. Attack Jackson Barroll ’28 led with four goals and Jack Dunleavy ’25 and Ethan Kessler ’26 followed with 3 each. A total of 13 players scored throughout the game, proving the Bullet’s offensive aggression. The defense kept up, keeping McDaniel to seven shots on goal compared to Gettysburg’s 35. Goalkeeper Murphy Hoey ’27 played most of the game (45 minutes) with two saves and only one goal allowed. The Gettysburg men’s lacrosse team is now ranked #8.
Both teams played again on April 19. The women traveled to Swarthmore and came out with the 17-8 victory, while the men dominated Washington College at home by a score of 16-5. Daly and Dunleavy led the scoring yet again for the Bullets, netting six and four goals, respectively.
Playoff spots are officially locked up for both squads. The men’s team looks towards their final regular season matchup with Franklin & Marshall on April 26. The women have two remaining regular season tilts against McDaniel on April 23 and Washington College on April 26. Gettysburg looks as strong as ever heading into the postseason.
