Ehrlich Alerts Campus Community of Student Arrest

By Ella Prieto, Assistant News Editor

On Monday, Vice President for College Life and Dean of Students Anne Ehrlich sent out a campus-wide email regarding a student arrest by the Gettysburg Police Department (GPD) in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Ehrlich stated that Gettysburg College is “not in a position to make any judgment regarding GPD’s actions.” However, the College has asked Gettysburg Borough Mayor Rita Frealing to review the incident. This request was due to “various reasons, including concerns by students who witnessed the arrest.”

No further details were shared of the arrest out of respect for the affected student. Ehrlich stated that the college is “providing support to the impacted students” and urged the community to contact Student Life if they are aware of a student who would benefit from support.

GPD Police Chief Robert Glenny did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
