  1. Students might consider starting a Thaddeus Stevens club. Besides being a national hero during and after the Civil, Stevens helped to establish Gettysburg College and served on its board for 34 years. Stevens Hall is named in his honor and a statue of Stevens was recently erected in front of the courthouse on Baltimore Street.
