On, Friday, April 1, Dean of Students Anne Ehrlich released the latest campus COVID-19 update. According to the update, unvaccinated students are now permitted to do many of the activities they were unable to enjoy earlier in the semester.

Most notably, unvaccinated students are allowed to motor scoot. Ehrlich wrote, “Given decreases in COVID-19 cases, we want to offer unvaccinated students important opportunities like motor scooting.”

However, they are not permitted to yell to their friends from the motorized vehicles, as current vaccinated scooter enthusiasts often do.

In response, the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is hiring more student officers to patrol Lincoln Ave. and ticket scooters that are breaking the speed limit.

DPS Officer Steven Smith said, “we hope this change will diversify the transportation options available to unvaccinated students to decrease the time it takes for them to get to class.”
