College Creates Center for Student Success

By Alicia Method, Staff Writer

Gettysburg College students can now look forward to a new office for academic support resources. As announced by Dean of Student Success Keira Kant, the department of Academic Advising and some parts of College Life are merging to create the Center for Student Success.

The Center for Student Success aims to help students overcome hurdles in their academic lives and assist them with their college journey.

Kant said, “The Center for Student Success is the place you can go if there is anything that may be getting in the way of your academic and personal success.”

The merger came about to offer students a more cohesive experience. Instead of rotating through multiple departments, students can now rely on one central place for academic support and advice.

Faculty who work in the center include Maureen Forrestal, Keira Kant, Tamra Martin, Renica Minott, and Hannah Sollenberger. Kant also stated the center is in the process of hiring more staff members to assist students with accommodations and academic advising.

The center will be located on the second floor of the College Union Building, in the old Academic Advising office. Students can utilize this office to seek advice for any of their current or future academic needs.

  1. It’s a good idea.
One result of mergers such as this is personnel and cost reduction.
    GBURG is admin top-heavy.
