The executive board of Student Senate held an information session over Zoom on Monday, Apr. 6, for Vice President Jack Lashendock ‘20 to detail the election process for 2020-21 senators and officers. The entire executive board then fielded questions from students.

Lashendock reviewed the dates for petitions and elections. Despite the Constitution only prescribing a class year restriction for the president, the current executive board is extending the restriction such that only rising juniors and seniors may serve as vice president. The position of clubs liaison has also been eliminated.

There will be separate elections for President and Vice President, Technocratic positions, and senators. If candidates lose an election, they are able to then run in the following election.

Twenty-eight students, including members of the current executive board, attended the meeting. Lashendock later separated students into break out rooms to learn more about the executive board positions. Seven students chose to attend the break out room for president and vice president, while a handful each participated in discussions about the three technocratic positions: secretary, treasurer, and parliamentarian.

The Gettysburgian will host the first candidate forum for President and Vice President on Monday, Apr. 13 at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
