A few minutes before the noon lunch rush at Bullet, with Admissions tours coming through the building and a panel about to get underway, the College Union Building was evacuated for a small fire.

The fire came from a candle underneath catering in CUB 230 for a Religion and Violence Panel hosted by the Center for Religious & Spiritual Life and the Interfaith Student Council. The Gettysburg Fire Department was dispatched to the scene to extinguish the fire.

After about fifteen minutes, the building was reopened, but the west side of the second floor remains closed for another hour to clear out the room where the fire started, Department of Public Safety officers on the scene said.
