College Cancels Spring Break Trips As Coronavirus Spreads

In the current state of general panic of coronavirus, Gettysburg College has heeded the warning of the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and has cancelled many of the college-sponsored Spring Break trips:

Cancelled Trips

  • The Center for Public Service (CPS) has cancelled its Health Care and Education trip in Costa Rica.
  • CPS has cancelled its Debt, Economy and Statehood in Puerto Rico trip.
  • CPS has cancelled its Music, Ritual and the Struggle for Haitian and Afro-Dominican Rights in the Dominican Republic trip.
  • The Center for Career Engagement has cancelled its ‘career trek’ to New York City and its trip to the University of Maryland Medical Center. Both trips may possibly run again later on.
  • The Eisenhower Institute has cancelled its international trip to Rome, Italy and Montenegro for the Fielding Fellows. 
  • The Eisenhower Institute has also cancelled its Counters of the Middle East trip to the United Arab Emirates and Jordan.

Trips that are Still Running

  • Gettysburg College Choir will still be going on their American Northeast tour.
  • GRAB will still be running its staff camping trip.
  • Ultimate Frisbee will still be running their tournament trip to Myrtle Beach.
  • The Eisenhower Institute’s domestic trips to Washington, D.C., Little Rock, Arkansas, and Florida are still running.
