On Saturday, Jan. 26, the Bullets Men’s Basketball Team suffered a third consecutive loss, bested by Muhlenberg College 71-55.

In the first half, the Bullets opened up with a 9-4 lead led by the backcourt of senior guard Nick Antolini and junior Alex Leder. But midway through the first half the Mules answered with a 14-3 run to put them ahead by six.

In the final five minutes of the second quarter the Bullets came within one point, but the Mules again went on a 8-2 hot streak into halftime with a 38-30 lead.

Once again the Bullets came within one-point in the opening of the second half with a 9-2 spurt that included two threes. Until the fourth, the game remained relatively stagnate with each team exchanging points and failing to pull away.

But the Mules sealed the game with back-to back three-pointers that resulted in a 10-0 run to increase the lead by sixteen with 1:28 to go. In the final minute, Gettysburg had great looks from deep, but the shots did not fall. The Bullets lost the game 71-55.

Although the Mules went 25-54 from the field and were 11-of-12 from the free throw line, they were held to just two steals for the game. Muhlenberg is ranked third in the conference in steals per game.

With the win on Saturday, Muhlenberg and Gettysburg are held at an all-time series tie at 80 apiece.

Antolini was the Bullets’ leading scorer at 14 points for the game while senior Nick Lord had the most threes with a total of three. Leder and junior forward Avery Close led the team in steals with three apiece.

With the loss on Saturday, the Bullets are now 10-7 overall and 4-5 in the Centennial Conference. They are hoping to bounce back from their three-game losing streak at Franklin and Marshall tonight. After that, Gettysburg hosts nationally ranked No. 1 Swarthmore on Saturday.

The Bullets beat F&M back in November 67-55 and lost to still ranked No. 1 Swarthmore 63-95 on December 7.
