Bullet Shot: Sam Sheldon

By Candace Means, Staff Writer

Earlier this season, the Gettysburg Bullets placed second in the Mason-Dixon Invitational.

Junior Sam Sheldon had a particularly successful meet, finishing 2nd in the mile run in 4:31.34, five seconds behind senior Alex Petrecca. He also set a new personal record in the 800-meter run, finishing in 2:02.35, good for 9th place overall.

Sheldon has had a positive past at the Mason-Dixon Invitational. Last year, he placed 11th in the 800-meter run and set a then-season-high time of 2:03:86.

Sheldon is also a member of the Indoor Track team and Cross Country team.

After this season, Sheldon has expressed that he is going to miss the seniors, who have had such a huge impact on his running career at Gettysburg. According to Sheldon, the seniors pushed him to run to the best of his ability and gave him the constructive criticism that he needed to excel his game.

“My three years at Gettysburg have gone extremely fast,” said Sheldon, “but I’m really excited to start my senior season and see how the new freshmen and entire team are going to compete next year.”

Although Sheldon will miss competing for the Bullets, he knows that will not stop him from leisurely runs in his hometown of Tully, New York.
