The Gettysburg College Men’s Basketball team has been led all year by the consistent performances of Avery Close ‘21.

This past week, the 6’ 6” sophomore nailed the game winning lay-up in the closing seconds to knock off conference foe McDaniel for a much-needed conference win. His 23-point outburst on 10-15 shooting led the team.

Close has been a consistent scorer for the Bullets all season. He leads the team with 13.2 points per game, while shooting over 50% from the field. He also does an exceptional job of getting to the line, leading the team with 76 free-throw attempts in the season.

In addition, Close contributes outside the scoring column. Second on the team with 5.8 rebounds per game gives the Bullets second-chance opportunities. On defense, he leads the team in blocks with 1.3 per game, and his quick hands have led to 12 steals throughout the year.

The Bullets will continue their season against conference rivals Dickinson and Muhlenberg this week. The team will continue to look to Close to help lead them as they look to have a strong finish to their season.
