The Gettysburg College women’s lacrosse team has started their season off strong with two wins in a row. The Bullets defeated No. 17 Messiah, 7-6, in a home opening thriller and Stevenson, 16-6, on the road.

Senior goalie Shannon Keeler had two outstanding games for Gettysburg on their way to victory. She managed a dozen stops against Messiah to help the Bullets come out with the win in overtime. Her performance came in clutch to keep Gettysburg’s hopes alive in both regulation time and overtime.

In the game against Stevenson, she had three saves in the first half to keep Gettysburg on track for a solid win. Over the week, she saved 65.2% of the shots put on goal and posted an average of 5.23 goals against. She was also named the Centennial Conference Defender of the Week for her impressive performance.

Keeler is also just one win away from reaching 50 career victories. She would be only the third Gettysburg goalie to reach this milestone. It was previously done by Liz Borucki ’04 (51 wins) and Kristen Krammer ’10 (58 wins).

Gettysburg is hoping to keep with the winning momentum and that Keeler will keep them grounded in goal.  Keeler’s early season success is why she is our Athlete of the Week!
