Senior Sarah Hansen earned her seventh first-place career title to complete the women’s golf fall season at the Stevenson University Fall Invitational.

Hansen just ousted first-year teammate Hannah Fireman Saturday by way of a better 10th hole score. The 10tthhole is seen to be the top handicap hole of the course. Hansen scored an 82 for her entire game.

Hansen’s victory was also her third first-place finish for the fall 2016 season. The senior came out on top in a one-on-one match against Lebanon Valley College with the low score of 79 and at the Lebanon College Invitational, where she also earned a 79 as well. These two scores are only one point off of her personal best.

The senior physics major enters her final season as a Bullet golfer ranked first in the Centennial Conference. Her 88.02 average places her fourth in the Gettysburg College women’s golf program history. Her first place finish at the Centennial Conference Championships last season earned her a place on the All-Centennial Conference First Team last spring. The Maine native has also competed in the NCAA Division III Championship rounds each season.

The golf team now faces a four-month hiatus from play until it begins its longer spring season in the second semester. Hansen will look to leave her mark in the program and help to bring home yet another top finish for the Gettysburg Bullets.

Hansen’s early success in such a short fall season of only seven events warrants her the title of The Gettysburgian’s Athlete of the Week.
