The Gettysburg College volleyball team has opened the season 8-4 overall much thanks to junior setter, Steph Blair.

Last week, Steph made her 2000th assist against Susquehanna University, further establishing her name on the court.

“Being a setter definitely is not easy,” said Blair. “It is my job to be a leader and run the court, which includes calling plays and running the offense. It is also my job to be a motivator and bring energy to the court, especially when we aren’t playing well. I lead my team by being the person that my teammates can look to and rely on during a game.”

Although she may be the leader of her team while on the court, Steph’s humble attitude made it clear that she was only part of the reason for the Bullet’s successful 2-0 Centennial Conference start.

“I would like to mention how talented everyone on the team is this year,” said Blair. “The freshman are absolutely amazing. There are seven of them and they have stepped up and really made us a team to be reckoned with. In addition, all of the upperclassmen have really been doing an amazing job of completely changing the mentality of this team from what it has been in prior years and I think it really reflects in how we have been playing so far this season.”

For her contributions to Bullet’s volleyball and continual success on the court, Steph Blair is this week’s athlete of the week.
