There are many resources here at Gettysburg College that cater to the needs and concerns of students, and one such resource is the Women’s Center. The Women’s Center is located in the Ice House Complex on 30 North Washington Street, and our hours are from 4:00 p.m. -9:00 p.m. on Sunday through Thursday, and from 7:00p.m. -12:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. The mission of the Women’s Center is to enhance the academic achievement, career aspirations, and personal development of all who identify as women at Gettysburg College. The Women’s Center is committed to creating a safe, equitable, and inclusive learning environment in which all people can be successful regardless of age, race, color, religion, ethnic or national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender expression, or disability.

So what does the Women’s Center do? Well, the Gettysburg College Women’s Center serves as a hub for social justice leadership and activism around women’s and gender issues, providing students with knowledge, experiences, and resources to be informed leaders, advocates, and change-makers on campus and beyond. The Women’s Center space offers a relaxed, friendly, growth-oriented venue for students, and is a resource center for Gettysburg College students with gender, sex, safety, or health concerns. Furthermore, much of our work is focused on sexual assault and relationship abuse education and awareness, and victim advocacy. Current statistics reveal that 1 in 5 college women will be sexually assaulted during her undergraduate career.

However, that’s not all! We are located in a beautiful space in which clubs can hold meetings or host catered functions. Our center in equipped with a flat screen TV for movie viewings, lush couches for a cozy study session with friends, and we always have complementary coffee, teas, hot chocolate, and treats for our visitors to enjoy. It is important to note that men and individuals who identify with other gender identities are also welcome at the Women’s Center and are encouraged to participate in Women’s Center programs and events.

We also host several events throughout the year such as the Vagina Monologue, One Billion Rising, Take Back The Night, and our Lunch Lecture Series. Our aim is to serve you, the students of the Gettysburg community. We hold healthy relationship Discussions every other Monday at 7:00pm to discuss partner intimacy and to raise awareness about issues of control. We are planning to move to the first floor of Apple Hall in early November so that our services are more accessible to the campus community. This space will be shared with the Office of LGBTQA Advocacy and Education, directed by Erin Duran. Look forward to this exciting new development, and for information about our grand opening later this semester.
