Our Staff 2025-26
The Gettysburgian is fully operated by a staff of students, who retain full editorial control over the publication’s operations. The editorial board for the 2024–25 academic year is listed below. Gettysburg College students, alumni, faculty and staff are encouraged to contact section editors with story ideas, or send them to Editor-in-Chief Ella Prieto at prieel01@gettysburg.edu, for consideration.
If you’d like to write for the Gettysburgian, please contact the respective section editors or fill out our interest form. All students are encouraged to join the Gettysburgian staff. Editor-in-Chief, Ella Prieto ’26
Ella Prieto serves as the Editor-in-Chief for The Gettysburgian. Previously, she worked as the Managing Editor, News Editor, Assistant News Editor and as a staff writer for the News and Arts & Entertainment sections. Ella is a double major in Public Policy and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies with a Writing Minor. She studied abroad in Berlin, Germany, interning with the organization FAIR SHARE of Women Leaders e.V. Over the summer, she interned with the Housing Authority of Chester County. On campus, Ella volunteers with the Casa Swim program, is an It’s On Us Fellow in the Office of Sexual Respect and Title IX, the President of Order of Omega and is a member of Alpha Omicron Pi. She loves to read and keep up with celebrity drama in her free time.
Managing Editor & Features Editor, Sophie Lange ’26
Sophie Lange is the Managing Editor of The Gettysburgian. Previously, she served as Features Editor, Social Media Manager, News Editor, and Assistant News Editor. Before being on the Editorial Board, she was a staff writer for the news section. Sophie is an environmental studies, Spanish and public policy triple major from northern Maryland. On campus, she is the Philanthropic Initiatives Manager of Sigma Sigma Sigma and a member of Sigma Delta Pi, the National Collegiate Hispanic Honor Society. In her free time, Sophie enjoys spending time outdoors, baking, reading, and writing.
Magazine Editor, Cassidy Haines ’26
Cassidy Haines is the Magazine Editor for The Gettysburgian. She is also a copy editor for the news and features sections and has written for opinions and A&E. Cassidy is a senior English major with a writing concentration. On campus, she is the Production Editor for The Mercury, works in the English department as a student administrative assistant and is a member of the international English honor society, Sigma Tau Delta. Her poetry has been published in The Mercury three times. Additionally, she is a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma, and she currently serves as Chapter President and Director of Chapter Growth. Off campus, you can find Cassidy reading, listening to music or at the beach.
Assistant Magazine Editor & Lead Copy Editor, Beatrice Slevin-Trigo ’26
Beatrice Slevin-Trigo serves as the Lead Copy Editor and Assistant Magazine Editor for The Gettysburgian, as well as a copy editor for all sections. Beatrice is a double major in English with a writing concentration and business, organizations and management. On campus, she works at Musselman Library and is a contributing editor for the Mercury. Outside of campus, she hangs out in Waldo’s, draws and writes novels and short stories. Most recently, she has also been a 2025 Kolbe Research Fellow.
Director of Photography, William Oehler ’26
William currently serves as Director of Photography for The Gettysburgian. Previously, he worked on the Photography and Copy Editing staff. William is a senior, studying French with a minor in Art History. On Campus William also dedicates his time as a Leadership Educator at the Garthwait Leadership Center, a Peer Learning Assistant with the French Department, TIPS Supervisor at The Attic, and works as the Gallery Photographer for the Schmucker Art Gallery. From New Hampshire originally, William loves hiking, cooking, and reading in his spare time.
Brandon Fey serves as the News Editor of the Gettysburgian. He previously worked as Assistant News Editor and a staff writer for the Features section. Brandon is a history and international affairs double major with minors in French and Economics. In addition to the Gettysburgian, he is also a Civil War Institute Fellow, a reviewer for the Gettysburg College Journal of the Civil War Era, and works as a Peer Research Mentor in the Musselman Library. He also serves as the Director of Scraps to Soil Inc., a nonprofit corporation that organizes the repurposing of food waste in the Gettysburg area.
Arts & Entertainment Editor, Jules Young ’26
Jules Young serves as the Arts and Entertainment editor for The Gettysburgian, and this is his first year being involved with the newspaper. He is a double major in Music and English with Writing, as well as a French Minor. Jules works closely with both the Conservatory and English department at Gettysburg, being a music ambassador for conservatory admissions and on the College Choir leadership board along with being the Vice President of Sigma Tau Delta, the English Honors society. Outside of academics, Jules enjoys writing for pleasure and playing Mario Kart for the Wii.
Sports Editor, Caitlin Rubsamen ’26 
Caitlin Rubsamen serves as the Sports Editor for The Gettysburgian. She is a double major in Sports Communications/Management and History, originally from Pleasantville, New York. On campus, she is a member of the field hockey team, manages the club ice hockey team, serves as an intern for the Admissions Office, and works as a staff member in the Athletic Communications Department. Outside of campus, Caitlin has covered collegiate field hockey as a writer for USA Field Hockey, minor league baseball with the New York Boulders, professional and college sports as a sports intern for ABC 7 WJLA in Washington, D.C., and local news with MyRye.com. In her spare time, she enjoys swimming, baking, reading, and working on her sports reporting account, @commentarywithcaitlin.
Opinions Editor, Omer Shamil ’27 
Hi! I’m Omer Shamil, and I’m the Opinions Editor for The Gettysburgian. I’m majoring in Mathematical Economics and Public Policy with a minor in Writing. On campus, I serve as President of the Class of 2027, Treasurer of Omicron Delta Epsilon, and Secretary of the Public Policy Student Council. I also work as a Leadership Educator with the Garthwait Leadership Center and as a Peer Learning Assistant in the Economics Department. When I’m not editing columns or in a meeting, I’m probably crocheting, hanging out with friends, or reading Crying in H Mart (again, its too good).
Social Media Manager, Jenna Lanza ’28 
Jenna Lanza serves as the Social Media Manager for the Gettysburgian. She is a sophomore double major in Communication Studies and Cinema & Media Studies with a minor in English from northern New Jersey. On campus, Jenna works as a staff member in the Athletic Communications Department. Additionally, she works off-campus at Presidents Coffee. In her spare time, she loves reading, listening to music, and trying new coffee shops.
