By Alejandra Ortega Martinez, Contributing Writer

Gettysburg College’s women’s soccer team battled back from a two-goal deficit Wednesday
evening to earn a 2–2 draw against McDaniel College, securing a place in the Centennial Conference
postseason. After trailing 2–0 early in the second half, the Bullets scored twice in the final 10 minutes
to complete their comeback.

McDaniel opened the scoring when Alaina Miller found the back of the net in the 22nd
minute. Despite Gettysburg’s attacking presence and attempts to create opportunities in the opposing
half, the Bullets struggled to turn their chances into goals. McDaniel maintained its 1–0 advantage
heading into halftime.

The Green Terror extended their lead in the 54th minute through Hariette Ngwatung, who
scored a goal that stood out as one of the match’s key moments. The goal put Gettysburg in a difficult
position as the second half progressed, forcing the Bullets to find a way to break through McDaniel’s
defense and get back into the game.

As the second half continued, Gettysburg increased its attacking pressure but still struggled to
finish its plays. The Bullets pushed forward in search of openings, while McDaniel worked to
maintain its defensive organization and protect its two-goal advantage. With time running out,
Gettysburg needed to turn its growing attacking efforts into goals.

The Bullets finally found their breakthrough in the 83rd minute, when Karissa Hufnagle
scored to cut McDaniel’s lead to 2–1. The goal gave Gettysburg a chance to get back into the match
and intensified the pressure on the Green Terror as the Bullets continued to push forward.

Following the goal, the match grew increasingly tense as both teams fought to secure a result.
Gettysburg pressed for an equalizer, while McDaniel attempted to hold its lead through defensive
pressure. As the Bullets created further opportunities in the attacking half, the Green Terror faced the
challenge of protecting their advantage in the closing minutes.

Just two minutes later, Hufnagle struck again. In the 85th minute, she scored her second goal
of the evening off an assist from Kristine Squeglia, leveling the match at 2–2. The quick equalizer
completed Gettysburg’s comeback, turning a two-goal deficit into a draw in the final minutes.
The result secured Gettysburg’s place in the Centennial Conference postseason.

Despite trailing by two goals in the second half, the Bullets continued to push forward and found the goals
they needed through Hufnagle’s late brace. What had appeared to be a difficult night for Gettysburg
ultimately became a comeback that kept its season alive.
