- Overview, Goals & Structure of AI initiative
-
- Goal is to help college prepare students to flourish in a world with AI
-
- 3-year initiative, starting with a faculty-facing front (year 1)
-
- If the goal is to prepare students to flourish, the preparation needs to come through the faculty
-
- Has already begun to place things in motion about AI in teaching and learning
-
- In the process of hiring students to join the AI initiative in 2 roles; wants to hear student voice and offer positions
-
- Encouraging faculty to explore different ways of teaching, new variations in teaching styles and learning experiences, trying to learn through experimentation as to what works with teaching and learning with AI tools.
-
- 2nd year (Next year) will be another experimental year, beginning to build the Gettysburg unified approach, and will be testing it
-
- 3rd year will be developing models and editing them to revolve around the Gettysburg AI Approach with policies and curriculum.
-
- Pieces of the program:
-
-
- Central college-wide AI leadership team of students and faculty
-
-
-
- Every academic area will have 2 AI coordinators, one student & one teacher, to serve as discussion facilitators and bridge the gap across different academic disciplines.
-
-
-
- Smaller goals
-
-
-
- Every faculty member will have knowledge, skills, and informed opinions on the role of AI in education and society.
-
-
-
- Develop a Gettysburg approach on AI, with a set of values to inform policies and curricular decisions (course policies, etc)
-
-
