Eisenhower Institute Announces 2026-27 Programs

The Eisenhower Institute at Gettysburg College is now accepting applications for seven upcoming programs for the 2026-27 academic year. Through EI programs, students participate in small group conversations with experts and peers, apply and share knowledge through project-based work, and engage in travel and experiential learning.  These programs are open to students of all class years and majors at no cost. All applicants must attend an in-person or virtual EI Info Session. Contact ei@gettysburg.edu with any questions.

Fall 2026 Programs 

Inside WashingtonExperience D.C. during a pivotal midterm election season and see how politics, policy, and power really work. Through immersive day-long trips led by a bipartisan team, meet the people who run elections, shape campaigns, and influence national decision-making. 

Global Focus: AfricaGet an inside look at the forces shaping one of the world’s fastest-growing regions through expert-led case studies on South Africa, Kenya, and Côte d’Ivoire and craft a practical development strategy grounded in real-world economic and political dynamics. 

Economic Transformation: Masters and MarketsDive into the global contest between state-directed economies and free-market democracies, and examine which systems deliver stability, prosperity, and influence in the 21st century. 

2026-2027 Full-Year Programs 

Building America: Housing, Health, and Education: Analyze policy impacts by visiting urban, suburban, and rural communities to learn how local governments and nonprofits are working to fill gaps in essential services left by federal funding cuts. 

Environmental LeadershipExplore how science, politics, and community activism collide in the fight for environmental justice as you research the long-term impacts of the U.S. Navy’s presence in Vieques, Puerto Rico, through research, fieldwork, and hands-on leadership. 

2026-2027 Senior Fellowships 

Undergraduate FellowshipExamine how federal research funding impacts the economy, influences innovation, and affects everyday life while also comparing how other countries are racing to lead in key scientific fields.  

Fielding Fellowship: Explore public service in the executive branch by studying presidential leadership and diplomacy through archival research, meetings with practitioners, and experiential learning trips.  

Applications will open in the fall for our spring and summer 2027 programs. 

Upcoming Event – Annual Scharf Lecture 

Join EI for an inspiring conversation with Pulitzer Prize finalist Lee Hawkins, whose groundbreaking memoir and investigative work are reshaping how America understands race, history, and generational healing. The Annual Henry M. Scharf Memorial Lecture will be Tuesday, March 31 in Mara Auditorium — RSVP on Engage.
