Kate Anderson ’09, acclaimed film, television, and musical theater songwriter, has been announced as the Class of 2026 Commencement Speaker.
In an email to the 2026 class, President Bob Iuliano elaborated on Anderson’s accomplishments, including her work on Apple TV’s “Central Park” and Disney Animation’s “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure,” as well as musical adaptations of “The Book Thief,” “Austenland” and the off-Broadway musical “Between the Lines”.
At Gettysburg, she was involved in Chi Omega, the Sunderman Conservatory, specifically in Camerata, the Four Scores a cappella group and the College Choir. Her involvement also includes performances in several productions. She graduated cum laude with degrees in Music and Creative Writing.
Anderson was the 2024 recipient of Gettysburg College’s Young Alumni Achievement Award. She is the youngest alumni speaker since 1973, a testament to her incredible career successes thus far.
The 191th Commencement is scheduled for Saturday, May 16.
