The Counselling and Wellness Center hosted its annual Fresh Check day event held on Sept. 24 from 12 to 2 p.m. on Stine Lake. Students gathered to participate in interactive games and wellness activities designed to raise awareness about mental health issues and encourage students to seek help when they need it.
The event featured a variety of booths, sponsored by student organizations and clubs, each highlighting different aspects of self-care, stress management and community support. Students were encouraged to participate in activities, collect literature and have meaningful conversations with peer volunteers and wellness staff.
Many tables, such as those titled “Mood Matter,” “Younique” and “Track Your Mental Heath” engaged with students by offering small activities with rewards for participants designed to remind them about the role of community in maintaining well-being.
“Events like this serve as an educational platform for learning how to raise awareness, especially discussing and removing the stigma around mental health,” stated Cynthia Ortiz ’26.
Some College teams were also represented at the event, including the field hockey team, which held a booth that asked students to “Stick It to Stress” by highlighting the connection between athletics and wellness, and distributing stress-reduction materials.

Through games and conversation, Counseling and Wellness seeks to communicate its message on the importance of mental health, and teach about the availability of resources for support by creating a welcoming environment for students.
