Ella Prieto ’26 will serve as editor-in-chief for The Gettysburgian in the 2025-26 academic year for its 128th volume. Sophie Lange ’26 will work as managing editor for the year. They, as well as the rest of the incoming editorial board, were elected unanimously by The Gettysburgian editorial board.
Prieto and Lange will succeed Vincent DiFonzo ’25 and Katie Lauriello ’25, who are graduating next month.
Prieto is a double major in public policy and women, gender and sexuality studies with a writing minor. Prieto previously worked as a news staff writer, assistant news editor and news editor before becoming managing editor for the 2023-24 year and the fall 2024 semester. She is currently studying abroad in Berlin, Germany, where she is interning with FAIR SHARE of Women Leaders.
Additionally, Prieto volunteers for the Casa Swim program, acts as an It’s On Us fellow for the Title IX office, and is a member of Alpha Omicron Pi.
“I am so excited to step into the role of editor-in-chief. Having written for The Gettysburgian since my first year, this is something I have dreamed about. I love this organization and cannot wait to continue serving it,” said Prieto. “Thank you to my previous editor-in-chiefs Katie Oglesby ’23, Laken Franchetti ’24 and Vincent DiFonzo ’25 for their mentorship and excellence in this position. I look forward to working with Sophie as my managing editor as well!”
Lange studies environmental studies, Spanish and public policy. She has previously worked for The Gettysburgian as features editor, social media manager, news editor, assistant news editor, and as a staff writer. She is also the philanthropic initiatives manager of her sorority Sigma Sigma Sigma, a senior editor for Her Campus and president of the service sorority Gamma Sigma Sigma,
“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue on the editorial board as the managing editor. The Gettysburgian has been a formative part of my college experience that has opened my eyes to so many new possibilities, and I have learned so much in my time on the board especially,” said Lange. “As I enter my senior year, I am thrilled to work with Ella as the editor-in-chief and the rest of the board to continue providing the Gettysburg College community with an exceptional publication.”
Additionally, Cassidy Haines ’26 will continue to lead the production of The Gettysburgian monthly magazine. Haines previously served as assistant magazine editor.
