Campus Safety Alerts Community to Increase in Thefts from Vehicles

By Vincent DiFonzo, Editor-in-Chief

On Thursday, Executive Director of Campus Safety Alex Wiltz sent an email informing the campus of an increase in vehicle break-ins observed throughout the Gettysburg borough.

“Local authorities have alerted us to a rise in thefts from vehicles in Adams County, the Borough of Gettysburg, and on campus,” wrote Wiltz.

Wiltz advised students to ensure that their vehicles are locked with valuables out of sight. Additionally, he advised students to move items out of their vehicles and to regularly check on their vehicles.

Meanwhile, Campus Safety is “increasing patrols in parking areas to deter additional thefts.”

Students who have become victims of theft from their vehicle are encouraged to contact the Gettysburg Police Department or Campus Safety, which can be contacted at (717) 337-6912.
