Carol Cantele ’83 has been elected to the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame and will be inducted in early 2025, USA Lacrosse announced on Thursday, Oct. 17. Cantele is a former field hockey and lacrosse coach at the College. She also played both sports during her undergraduate career at Gettysburg.

After coaching for thirty years, she retired from her role at the College in 2022.

Cantele holds an impressive record. She led the Bullet to three NCAA Division III championships (2011, 2017, 2018), holds 12 Centennial Conference titles and was named the NCAA Division III Coach of the Year four times (2006, 2011, 2017, 2018). Additionally, she is a two-time Centennial Conference Coach of the Year (2013, 2015).

Cantele will be inducted into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel on Jan. 11, 2025. Tickets for this event are available on the USA Lacrosse website

Cantele’s induction comes just months after she was selected to join the Gettysburg College Hall of Athletic Honor. Cantele has left her mark on Gettysburg College history and will cement herself into national lacrosse history upon her induction early next year.
