For the first time in 10 years, McDaniel men’s soccer defeated Gettysburg, and looking at the Green Terror sideline in the 77th minute would tell you that. Green Terror players sprinted towards substitute Mike Mevo celebrating after his second goal of the season, and second game-winner. After a Green Terror free kick sent a loose ball in the box, Mevo powered a turnaround shot into the lower left corner of the net.

Keeper Tate Roth made four saves for the Terror, including a magnificent diving stop that denied Bullets Senior Aidan Muller’s free kick. The win propelled McDaniel into the sixth and final slot of the Centennial Conference tournament, with the Bullets on the outside looking in for the moment.

It was a valiant effort for Gettysburg on Wednesday. They played tough defense and created several chances, especially in the final few minutes. Roth, unfortunately, was too much for a Bullets attack that showed a lot of pace.

They outshot McDaniel 13-9 and held the edge in corners 6-2, with several coming in the last few minutes but none producing a shot on goal.

Nur Adhikarie ’25 had the best look for the Bullets, putting a cross just over the bar. Muller showed toughness in Gettysburg’s late push, especially after getting tangled up with a McDaniel defender and requiring assistance. Muller finished the game and was the centerpiece of the Bullets attack. The McDaniel defense was strong, however, giving Gettysburg very few opportunities for solid shots on goal.

Anytime Gettysburg would move the ball down the field (which was often), a Green Terror defender always seemed to get in the way as they approached the box.

Gettysburg will need to find the net in their next two games, as they are now on the outside looking in. McDaniel now controls their own destiny to make the tournament, and has a key matchup with the Garnet of Swarthmore, who sit three points behind them in the standings.

Gettysburg hosts Franklin and Marshall, ranked No. 23, on Saturday, now needing to make up points, as they sit now five points behind McDaniel.
