The Gettysburg College Women’s Soccer team faced the Hood College Blazers on a foggy Wednesday night at Clark Field. With a final score of 0-0, both defenses were tested through the 90 minute game. It was a back-and-forth game with an unexciting score; however, the Bullets displayed their talents on both sides. Leading the Bullets offensively was forward Jane Daiutolo ’26 with four shots out of Gettysburg’s 15 total.

Midfielder Jackie Walsh ’28 and forward Zoe Want ’25 had 2 shots on goal to contribute to the Bullets’ total of 6. With 2 total shots and one on goal, forward Kylee Gust ’28 applied high pressure offensively for most of the game, contributing to Gettysburg’s domination of the ball. In the second half, Karissa Hufnagle ’28 took up the pressure but remained unable to get any shot attempts. The Bullets defense demonstrated their abilities time and time again. Leading the defense was goalie Alex Jurow ’27. Playing for 90 minutes, Jurow totaled five saves and was very secure inside the box thanks to her teammates.

The Bullets could not connect any of their shots to the back of the net. This was in part due to Hood’s goalie Brenna Ellenberger ’25 who had a total of six saves. Ellenberger dealt with relentless pressure from the Bullets and still managed to prevent Gettysburg from scoring in the late-night game. Both halves consisted of impressive saves from the sophomore goalie and her performance made her stand out in the game.

The first half started with a quick play by the Bullets and a shot from Gust. What followed was a half mostly at midfield and rushed shot attempts by both teams. Offensively, the intensity was high but was matched quickly by the defenses on the field.

The first half ended with breakthroughs by the Blazers’ offense, but an inability to score. Coming out of halftime, the Bullets were energized by multiple shots from Walsh, however, they were easily stopped by Ellenberger.

This pattern continued for much of the game with both the Bullets and the Blazers able to have opportunities to score. These opportunities however were undercut by the ability to follow through. Gettysburg maintained control of the ball for most of the game, with few breakthroughs from the Blazers.

The Bullets displayed their pressuring abilities and defensive skills throughout the 90 minutes. However, it wasn’t enough to give them the lead, and the score ended in an uneventful 0-0.
