Campus Safety Warns of Black Bear On Campus

A black bear was spotted on campus Tuesday morning, near Pennsylvania Hall. Campus Safety issued a warning asking students to stay indoors and to not approach the animal, before saying the bear had left campus. 

Video posted online appears to show a black bear roaming campus.

“Campus safety has been notified of a black bear on the main section of campus near Penn Hall. Please do not approach the animal. Stay indoors. Updates will be provided as they are available,” Campus Safety said in the emergency alert, issued at 11:28 a.m. 

At 11:34 a.m., Campus Safety reported the bear had left campus and they will continue to monitor the situation. 

Campus Safety alerts text, call, email and leave voicemails to all student, staff and faculty cell phones.
