Gettysburg’s women’s golf team traveled to New Jersey over the weekend to participate in the Garden State Collegiate Classic hosted by Drew University. The format of the tournament consisted of two days of play (36 total holes), where the top four performers from each team counted towards the team’s official score.

After the first 18 holes, Gettysburg sat in fifth place with a team score of 358. The next day, the Bullets finished strong with a 338 team score over the last 18 holes. That put Gettysburg in a fourth-place finish with a total score of 696.

Heading the Bullets was Lucy Barton ’27 who compiled a 36-hole score of 167, with rounds of 84 and 83, respectively. That was good enough to give Barton a tie for 12th place out of the 56-player field.

Lucy’s sister, Chloe Barton ’27, was also towards the front of the pack with a score of 170 through 36 holes. Chloe started slow, carding a 93 on the first day, but she bounced back with a team-low round of 77 on the final day to boost her into 16th place.

Natalie Boyd ’26 was just behind for the Bullets with a two-day score of 176 which put her in 22nd place overall. Boyd fired rounds of 87 and 89 during the weekend.

The Gettysburg lineup was rounded out with Sophia Chesner ’26 and Mia Wilutis ’24. Chesner finished in 27th place with rounds of 89 and 94 to give her a total score of 183. Wilutis checked in at 35th place with a score of 197, shooting a 99 and 98.

Hamilton College came in first place out of the ten teams participating with a 36-hole score of 639. Cristea Park of Ithaca College finished first on the individual leaderboard by six strokes with a score of 170 over the two days, including a one-over 73 on the first day.

The Bullets return to action next Sat., Apr. 13 at Tanglewood Manor Golf Course for the Millersville Invitational.
