The Gettysburgian is operated by a staff of students, who retain full editorial control over the publication’s operations. The staff for the 2023–24 academic year is listed below. Editor-in-Chief, Laken Franchetti ’24
Laken Franchetti ’24 serves as the Editor-in-Chief for The Gettysburgian. She has previously served as News Editor, Assistant News Editor and as a staff writer for the news and arts and entertainment sections. Laken is an English with a writing concentration and history double major. On-campus, she is the Editor-in-Chief for Her Campus, the Nonfiction Genre Head for The Mercury and a user services assistant at Musselman Library. Laken is also a Lincoln scholar and spent the Fall ’22 semester abroad in London and Lancaster, England. In her free time, Laken is an avid film fan and enjoys reading.
Managing Editor & News Editor, Ella Prieto ’26
Ella Prieto ’26 serves as the Managing/News Editor for the Gettysburgian. Previously, she worked as the Assistant News Editor and as a staff writer for the News and Arts & Entertainment sections. Ella is a double major in Public Policy and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies with a Writing Minor. On campus, Ella volunteers with the Casa Swim program, is an It’s On Us Fellow in the Office of Sexual Respect and Title IX, and is an Eisenhower Scholar. She loves to read and keep up with celebrity drama in her free time.
Magazine Editor, Eric Lippe ’24
Eric Lippe ’24 serves as the Magazine Editor for the Gettysburgian. Eric acted as the Director of Photography during the 2022-2023 school year. He is a Theatre and Cinema & Media Studies double major with a writing minor. On campus, he works for the Theatre Department as a photographer, is the House Leader of Humor House, and is a member of the Owl & Nightingale Player’s BOD.
Director of Photography, Will Oehler ’26
Will Oehler ’26 is a Cinema and Media Studies Major with a double language Minor in French and Italian. Outside of The Gettysburgian, Will is an Outdoor Facilitator for the Garthwait Leadership Center and volunteers at a local non-profit, Waldo’s & Company.
Assistant News Editor, Sophie Lange ’26
Sophie Lange ’26 is the Assistant News Editor for The Gettysburgian. Previously, she served as a Staff Writer for the News section. Sophie is an Environmental Studies, Spanish and Public Policy triple major from northern Maryland. On campus, she is a research assistant for the Environmental Studies Department and a member of the inaugural Interfaith Council. In her free time, Sophie enjoys spending time outdoors and writing.
Opinions Editor, Lead Copy Editor & Content Manager (Fall), Vince DiFonzo ’25
Vincent DiFonzo ’25 is the Opinions Editor, Lead Copy Editor and Content Manager for The Gettysburgian, previously serving as Content Manager. He is an IGS international affairs and history double major with a minor in political science and economics. Outside the Gettysburgian, Vince is an editor for the Gettysburg Social Science Review (GSSR), enjoys participating in Eisenhower Institute programs, and works for Counseling and Wellness Services. Vince loves traveling, geography, and discovering new music, and plans to study abroad in Berlin in the spring.
Opinions Editor (Spring), Trevor Hobler ’26
Trevor Hobler was a writer in the Opinions section of the Gettysburgian during their freshman year and will be working as the editor of Opinions during the spring semester. Trevor is a political science and public policy double major with a concentration in environmental studies. They’re also involved with the Gettysburg college club eSports. Trevor loves hearing people out on any and all current happenings: controversial or not.
Arts & Entertainment Editor, Kenzie Smith ’26
Kenzie Smith ’26 is the Arts & Entertainment Editor for The Gettysburgian. Previously, she served as a Staff Writer for the News and Arts & Entertainment sections. Kenzie is an English with a writing concentration major and Environmental Studies minor originally hailing from Everett, PA. Outside The Gettysburgian, Kenzie is a tour guide for the Admissions Office, a contributing editor for The Mercury, and a member of The Women’s Network. In her free time, you can find Kenzie listening to music, writing poetry, and hanging out with friends.
Sports Editor, David Goldman ’24
David Goldman ’24 is an economics major with a business and data science double minor. He has served as a sports writer for The Gettysburgian since freshman year. On campus, he is a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity and works for the athletic communications office.
Features Editor, Laurel Bennett ’24
Laurel Bennett ’24 is the Features Editor for The Gettysburgian. She previously worked as a staff writer for the news and features sections. Laurel is a political science major and an English minor from Carlisle, PA. Outside of The Gettysburgian, she is a member of the service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega, serves as co-president of Pre-Law club, and is an avid horse-back rider.
Lead Copy Editor (Spring), Katie Lauriello ’25
Katie Lauriello ’25 serves as the Lead Copy Editor for The Gettysburgian in the spring semester. She formerly worked as a copy editor for the News section. Katie is a double major in English and an Individualized major called Digital & Social Media Marketing, coming from Dillsburg, Pennsylvania. After studying abroad for a semester in Lancaster, England, she hopes to return with newfound skills in communications. Additionally, Katie enjoys reading fantasy series and traveling.
Social Media Manager, Zach Brooks ’25
Zach Brooks ’25 is an English Major with a writing concentration and music minor. On campus Zach is involved in the symphony orchestra where he plays the violin and a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity where he currently serves as corresponding secretary.
Technology Editor, Linh Phan ’26
Linh Phan ’26 is a Computer Science & Math major, with a minor in Data Science. Linh is the Technology Editor at The Gettysburgian, and on campus, she is also a Webmaster for Gettysburg ACM. In her free time, she listens to music, enjoys some TV shows and chit-chats with her friends.
