Women’s Track and Field
Gettysburg’s women’s track and field finished 5th out of 16 competing teams, registering 53 points at the 41st annual Millersville Metrics with six top-five finishes during the two-day competition on April 5th and 6th.
Carys Cook ’26 propelled the Bullets to their 5th-place finish. She won the steeplechase with a time of 11:54.70 and on Friday, she also finished second in the 5,000-meter run, posting a time of 18:55.97. Teammate Abbey Woodcome ’26 subsequently finished 5th in the same event with a time of 19:53.24.
Gettysburg registered another second-place finish in the 10,000-meter run on Friday when Elyse Tancini ’27 ran a time of 39:00.19, who was narrowly beaten out of the first-place spot by 13 seconds.
Holly Ferrara ’24 registered an impressive third-place finish out of 31 competitors in the javelin throw, as she threw 41.18 meters, a season-best. Gettysburg’s Katrina Bennage ’27 also rounded out the top ten of this event with a distance of 34.92 meters.
The Bullets had three competitors in the 1,500-meter run. Rowe Crawford ’26 finished fourth with a time of 5:01.95. Her teammates, Emma Bernstein ’24 and Woodcome followed her with times of 5:21.11 and 5:27.00 to place 16th and 19th respectively.
In the end, Millersville won their own invitational comfortably with 219 points. East-Stroudsburg, the second-place team, posted 81.5 points. Gettysburg’s women’s track and field will return to action at the Susquehanna Multis on Apr. 11 and 12.
Men’s Track and Field
The men finished 8th out of 18 competing teams at the Millersville Metrics with 28 points, driven by three top-five finishes.
Dominic DiLuzio ’26 registered the highest finish for Gettysburg with a time of 17:29.09 in the 5,000-meter run to earn a second-place finish out of five competing runners.
Josh Judson ’25 and Maddon McNicholas ’27 competed in the 10,000-meter run. Judson posted a time of 33:11.47 to earn a 5th-place finish, and McNicholas followed just behind in 6th place with a time of 33:13.65.
Liam O’Meara ’27 etched his name into the history books with a 5th-place finish in a pole vault that cleared 4.20 meters. The performance moved him to the number 10 spot in program history. He also competed in the 200-meter run where he finished 12th, posting a time of 23.27 seconds.
Additionally, Andres Nunez-Castaneda ’26 registered an impressive 10th-place finish in the 400-meter run with a time of 52.03, a season-best that beat out 28 other competing runners in this event.
In the end, East Stroudsburg won this meet with 173.5 points. They beat out second-place Lebanon Valley by 73.5 points. Gettysburg’s men’s track and field will also return to action on Apr. 11 and 12 at the Susquehanna Multis.
