Centralized Student Leadership Recruitment and Hiring Process to be Launched

By Ella Prieto, Managing and News Editor

The College Life Office is launching the Centralized Student Leadership Recruitment and Hiring Process for positions in the 2024-2025 Academic year. Multiple departments and offices are coming together for this new process, including the Center for Public Service Immersion Project Leaders and Program Coordinators, Center for Student Success Orientation Leaders, Gender and Sexuality Resource Center Program Coordinators, Inclusion and Belonging Peer Educators, Office of Multicultural Engagement Mosaic Pre-Orientation Leaders and Program Coordinators, Residential Education Resident Assistants and Community Advisors and the Office of Sexual Respect and Title IX’s It’s On Us Fellows.

Title IX Coordinator and Director of Civil Rights Compliance and Education Amanda Blaugher, who will be hiring students through this process, explained why the decision was made.

“The decision to move towards a centralized process was coordinated by College Life to allow for a more streamlined process for our students. We found that not all students knew of the various leadership positions within departments and offices and we wanted to increase awareness for our students of the various opportunities they could be part of,” said Blaugher.

She explained that the various departments and offices involved in this new hiring process “…considered which positions had timelines that would allow them to be part of this centralized process and in this first year, those are the leadership opportunities that will be part of the centralized process. The intention is to assess this new process after the first year and determine which additional leadership opportunities will be able to be part of the centralized process moving forward.”

Two information fairs will take place where students can meet with representatives from the participating offices and departments. They will be available to answer questions about their positions and the new centralized process. The first one is Nov. 29 at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the CUB Ballroom. The second will be Jan. 30 at the same time and place.

Applications for all positions will be due on Feb. 12, 2024, and offer letters will be sent on March 15, 2024.
