Miss Americana and the Football Prince make headlines around the world amidst rumored romance.

Thirteen years ago, a 21-year-old named Taylor Swift released a single called “Mean”, in which she sang about a braggadocio ex drunkenly arguing about a football game. Now, in 2023, Swift has stepped into the realm of football in a much different manner, as rumors surfaced several weeks ago that she and Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce were “hanging out.”

Swifties and football fans alike offered prognostications to the rumor’s validity, and possibilities for each side. Kelce, many said, is a nice change of pace for Swift from her typical romantic interests, which have been primarily more reserved, British men.

Kelce is known as the best in his position and is on the rise to be in the conversation for one of the best tight ends of all time. The third-round pick out of the University of Cincinnati is in his tenth year in the NFL and has been Chiefs star Quarterback Patrick Mahomes’ favorite target for the last several years.

Kelce has had at least 1,000 receiving yards each season since 2017, and with the recent departure of Tyreek Hill, has become the Chiefs’ second franchise player after Mahomes. It is hard to surpass the face of the league, but dating Taylor Swift is about the best thing Kelce can do to get on his quarterback’s level.

On the 12-time Grammy winner’s side, sports is the only realm her magic touch has yet to find. For an artist who is having the best year any artist could imagine, this would be the cherry on top. Swift is in the midst of her world-famous Eras Tour, which involves a 3-hour show, enormous stadiums packed with fans, and many tears and hoarse voices. She will release a concert film on Oct. 13 documenting her historic, record-breaking tour.

The media world exploded when she was seen at Arrowhead Stadium. It remains to be seen if the two stars are romantic, platonic, or undecided, but the story has not left headlines. NBC previewed their broadcast of the Chiefs-Jets Sunday Night Football matchup in the Meadowlands using Taylor Swift lyrics.

Swift is quickly attaining a foothold in the world of the National Football League, naysayers or not. Her accolades are too long to list here, but for anyone unaware, she has won every major music award more than ten times, including forty American Music Awards. One “Swiftie” on social media noted that “the most impressive takeaway from this relationship is the mass amount of Swifties who are now watching football.” Hopefully, this relationship will engage Swifties with the most popular sport in America, and football fans may stream the iconic artist’s hit songs.
