On Dec. 4 the various dance groups of Gettysburg College had their dance showcase from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the CUB Ballroom. The groups performing included Zouave Dance Company, BOMB Squad, Divine Dance Ensemble, and a capstone performance.

Two students, Rin Stevenson ‘24 and Jae Bailon ‘25, were the MCs for the event, announcing performances and keeping the show running.

BOMB Squad performed first, with a mashup of various songs such as “Gasolina” by Daddy Yankee, “Wheelie” by Latto, “Finesse” by Bruno Mars, “Ayy Ladies” by Travis Porter, “Candy Shop” by 50 Cent, and “Anaconda” by Nicki Minaj. Choreographers for the group were Abby Roy’23, the BOMB Squad Captain, Duy Vo ‘25, and a guest choreographer.

Divine Dance Ensemble followed with a dance mashup of “Heated” and “Break My Soul” by Beyonce. Divine Co-President Kaiyah Taylor ‘23 choreographed the piece.

Zouave then performed the song “Wonderland” by Taylor Swift with choreography made by Rin Stevenson ‘24, the group’s treasured.

After those three performances, there was a brief intermission for the audience to grab a drink or go to the restroom. Audience members were also encouraged to visit the bake sale in the back of the Ballroom which had baked goods, drinks, and gluten-free as well as vegan options. The baked goods were made by the dance companies performing.

Following the intermission, Zouave performed again with the song “It’s Alright” by Mother Mother. The dance was choreographed by Zouave vice president Mav Schmidt ’24.

Next was a solo performance by Zouave social media chair Lauren Chu ‘23. She danced to “Memories” by Conan Gray and choreographed it by herself.

After Chu’s performance was a capstone project dance by Jess St. Louis ‘25. She choreographed the song  “We Dance.” It featured dancers from various groups.

There was then another solo by Katie Ryan ‘23. Ryan, who is Zouave’s president, self-choreographed and danced to “Shrike” by Hozier.

The final performance featured all of Zouave’s dancers. They danced to “Raging” by Kygo.

At the end of the showcase, all of the dancers returned to the stage with applause. The MCs thanked the audience for coming and the behind-the-scenes workers who helped with the lights and music.
