Around 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening, a car accident occurred in Quarry Pond, according to an email from Campus Safety.

Onlookers could see multiple police cars, an ambulance, and Campus Safety present at the scene, as well as a vehicle being pulled out of the water.

According to the campus-wide email, Campus Safety officers found the vehicle and requested help from Gettysburg Police and Fire and Adams Regional Emergency Medical Service.

It is unclear whether the vehicle’s occupant was a student or not. Campus Safety said they are safe.

The incident is being investigated by Gettysburg Police.

Campus Safety also addressed the rumor that there were students running in the woods toward the train tracks. An officer said it was likely to be state police in the woods since the railroad is in their jurisdiction and they had to check the surroundings. No other people entered the woods, they said.

Managing Editor Alli Dayton and Magazine Editor George Malian contributed to reporting.
