By Alli Dayton, Managing/News Editor

On Wednesday, Chief Diversity Officer Dr. Eloísa Gordon-Mora sent out a campus-wide email detailing upcoming improvements to the College’s bias reporting.

Gordon-Mora began her email by acknowledging the efforts of the President’s Council, the Bias Awareness Resource Committee, the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Advancement Council, the Climate Study Working Group, and other faculty, staff, students, and alumni.

Next, she outlined the first step that will be taken to improve bias reporting, which is clarifying the concepts used to describe bias.

“This includes clearly distinguishing between potential bias events and potential violations of federal or state law,” said Gordon-Mora.

Also, a new reporting system will be implemented to respond to bias incidents President Iuliano will be creating a working group of students, faculty, and staff to begin this project in the spring semester.

Gordon-Mora concluded her email by stating that she is “confident that…we will make tremendous strides toward improving our policies and procedures in the months ahead.”
