College Launches New Bikeshare Program
By Kenzie Smith, Contributing Writer
On Monday, the College’s new bikeshare program launched due to the efforts of Student Senate. Six bikes with Gettysburg branding will be located outside of the College Union Building when they are not in use.
According to an email from the Assistant Director of the Office of Student Activities and Greek Life Trevor McClenon, to use the bikeshare program, students must download the “On Bike Share” app and create an account with their Gettysburg College credentials. Payment information is required when registering for an account, but students will only be charged if they fail to return the bike or if damage is incurred.
After the account is verified through email, students may rent a bike by opening the “On Bike Share” app and clicking on “Available Bikes.” Students will then select the bike they want to use by pressing “Rent.” The bike will automatically unlock from the rack.
Students should examine the bike for damage before beginning their ride. They can report any issues they find through the app.
When finished with the bike, students will return the bikes to the bike rack, making sure to check that the bike is fastened and locked to the rack correctly. This will automatically end the rental.
All instructions for the Bikeshare Program can be found on the bikeshare rack.
