Provost Search Moves Beyond First Round of Interviews

By Katie Oglesby, Editor-in-Chief

On Wednesday, President Bob Iuliano provided the campus community with an update to the search for a new provost.

Iuliano said that the first round of interviews was a success, and now the candidates have moved to the next stage: visiting campus.

“We had some hard choices—the position has attracted a deep and diverse pool of talented teacher-scholars with many years of administrative experience,” Iuliano said. “The quality of the pool speaks powerfully to the reputation of the College and the enthusiasm for the priorities we have articulated through the strategic plan.”

However, Iuliano stressed that there will not be open sessions with the entire campus because he would like to maintain the confidentiality of the candidates as they hold high positions at their home institutions.

That said, Iuliano highlighted that meetings of smaller, though still confidential, groups will be pertinent to this process, including groups of faculty, the Provost’s direct reports, the President’s Council, and students.

“We are enormously grateful for the input we have received from the community to date,” he said.

Iuliano encouraged the campus community to continue to provide input, directing communication to himself, Sarah Principiato, who co-chairs the search with Iuliano, and the entire Search Advisory Committee.
