On Wednesday, Vice President for College Life and Dean of Students Anne Ehrlich sent out a campus-wide email informing the Gettysburg community of changes and protocols within the area of college life she called “student wellness services.”
Ehrlich announced a new executive director of Counseling Services, Krista Dhruv.
Ehrlich explained that there are three ways to schedule a counseling appointment:
- Call: (717) 337-6960
- Email: counseling@gettysburg.edu with the subject line: “Appointment Request”
- Walk-In: 250 Broadway, located behind the Dining Hall
Crisis walk-in hours will be available Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Ehrlich said.
The College has partnered with UWill this year, Ehrlich said. UWill is a tele-therapy platform for counseling services. Gettysburg students will have access to a maximum of eight free sessions with a counselor at UWill, Ehrlich said.
Health Services will continue to partner with WellSpan for the upcoming academic year. Ehrlich said Health Services will expand their hours to be open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Health Services will now bill insurance carriers instead of student accounts, Ehrlich said.
“We believe finances should not prevent you from getting the health care you need,” she said.
Students are advised to bring a copy of their insurance card to campus in the fall, and will now be expected to present it at Health Services.
Ehrlich added that Associate Vice President for College Life Jeff Foster will work with Student Senate this year to form a Student Wellness Advisory Group. Students interested in joining this group should email Foster at jfoster@gettysburg.edu or Student Senate President Miranda Zamora at zamomi01@gettysburg.edu.
According to the Gettysburg College website, the Health Center will expand its partnership with WellSpan, allowing staff and faculty to receive medical care, as well. The name has been changed from Health Services to the Gettysburg Health Center, the College said.
