On Saturday, April 9, prospective students and parents spilled onto Gettysburg College’s lawns and sidewalks to experience the campus firsthand.
The College’s annual Get Acquainted Day (GAD) involved a host of events used to welcome and inform prospective students. This event marked the college’s first in-person Get Acquainted Day since the pandemic began in 2020.
Early in the morning at 9:00 a.m., students registered and prepared for the day in the College Union Building (CUB) lobby. Afterward, students and their families attended a Welcome and Presidential Q & A session in the CUB ballroom.
Starting at 10:45 a.m., current Gettysburg College students gathered at their respective tables in the Bream Gym and Hauser Field House for a presentation on various on-campus clubs and activities. Prospective students walked around the areas and chatted with current students representatives about their organizations.
Current student Natalie Dolan ‘23 commented on the experience. “It was so exciting seeing all the prospective students at the expo. I haven’t been able to participate in a Get Acquainted Day since coming to Gettysburg, so it was a lot of fun to represent my club and see my old self in the prospective students’ shoes,” Dolan said.
During the afternoon, there were a variety of campus tours and academic presentations where departments presented information about courses and career paths. The day finished off with a community reception in the Atrium.
All of these events, as well as high-energy efforts from students of all years and disciplines, resulted in a day brimming with fun and school spirit to welcome the incoming Class of 2026.
