Presidential Candidate: Miranda Zamora ’23

“Over the past two years, I have attempted to make the most of my Senate experience, both internally and externally. Externally, I have been able to accomplish many things specifically through my position as the college life advisory Chair. This position allowed me to not only petition for wellness days during the covid pandemic, but it also allowed me to facilitate weekly discussions between administration and students regarding COVID policy. Internally, I have been able to build relationships with various senate members as Vice President and gain a stronger understanding of the internal problems that student senate members see with the organization. I hope to be able to use both of these perspectives as President to not only improve the inner workings of the Senate, but to also make Senate a more inclusive and transparent space to the whole campus, so that we as a body may better provide of the campus community. I feel that my experience and involvement throughout campus will help me to better communicate with various campus groups and understand the concerns that they bring, as well as to communicate different ways to go about those issues. My experience has also helped me to build relationships with administration that I feel would facilitate furthering the goals of the student senate.”

Vice Presidential Candidate: Rocco Rodrigues ’23

“I have been a servant to the Student Senate and the Gettysburg College Community since the start of my first year. I began my tenure in Student Senate my first year spring when I became the Co-Chair of the Academic and Career Affairs Committee. I have served every semester since then, while also doing work on the Academic Policy and Programming Committee and Honorary Degree Subcommittee. Outside of Student Senate I have served as the treasurer of my fraternity, the Scholarship Chair of the Inter Fraternity Council, and I am currently the president of my fraternity. All of my experience has taught me the intricacies of the inner workings of Student Senate and the functions of the college and its administration. I have the qualifications for the position of Vice President and I guarantee you I have the mindset to make the Student Senate succeed.”

Vice Presidential Candidate: Geoffrey Meadville ’25

“I believe that I would be a good fit for the office of Vice President because, as a senator and committee chair I have seen the way the senate body has functioned and believe I can facilitate a smoother process. As a rising sophomore with a fresh perspective I am committed to reforming the office to an internal role, dealing with members of the Senate and managing the body while the president takes on a more external role. I believe that because I am newer to the senate I can be impartial and respectful when dealing with issues pertaining to the student body.”
