Pop-up musical social events will soon begin to appear on campus due to a new club called Listeners and Performers. The purpose of Listeners and Performers is to diversify Gettysburg College’s social scene and music. During a midnight walk to 7/11, Ratul Pradhan ’25 and Jack Joiner ’25 realized that the College is missing a place to listen and perform live music outside of the Sunderman Conservatory.
Pradhan said, “We hope to create a community of listeners and performers who have a space to showcase their music, have a space to spend their nights, interact with each other, find friends, find music, and collaborate.”
Listeners and Performers does not intend on being confined to one space and hopes to select the location for the performances based on the genre of music. The group is also open to collaborations with other organizations across campus to unite students through a shared appreciation for music.
Pradhan said, “We hope to have events in collaboration with fraternities and sororities, college houses, and student organizations. Listeners and Peformers acts as a liaison for students to find spaces to showcase their music, whether that be a basement or a common room.”
Pradhan hopes to promote cultural appreciation and diversity by creating a more inclusive and diverse social scene for students and by performing multiple genres of music.
