COVID-19 Update: Mask Requirement Remains

By Alli Dayton, News Editor

On Wednesday, Sept. 8, the Gettysburg College community received an email from Vice President for College Life and Dean of Students Anne Ehrlich regarding COVID-19 updates.

Ehrlich began the email by establishing the College’s current perspective about COVID-19 following the first week of classes.

“We are pleased to report that moving into the second week of classes, we continue to hold steady at Baseline Alert Level,” said Ehrlich

Ehrlich then explained that the College will continue to maintain previously established COVID-19 policies, including the indoor masking requirement.

Ehrlich said, “To ensure we continue to provide as normal a learning, living, and working environment as possible, the most prudent course of action at this time is to maintain our practice of actively monitoring the virus, with the understanding that we will adapt our policies incrementally as conditions allow.”

Ehrlich also reiterated that the masking policy will continue to be re-evaluated weekly.

In addition, Ehrlich offered suggestions for community members who wish to take extra voluntary precautions, such as “masking in close proximity to others.”
