On Thursday, Aug. 12 Vice President of College Life and Dean of Students Anne Ehrlich announced in campus-wide email changes to health services on campus, notably a new partnership with WellSpan. Now, WellSpan will be providing services through Health Services.

“Gettysburg College is committed to providing you with the best medical care possible and the newly-formed relationship with WellSpan allows for a comprehensive approach to medical care,” said Ehrlich. “WellSpan’s network of physicians, providers, specialists, diagnostic services, hospitals, and partnerships will ensure you have access to comprehensive medical care while at Gettysburg College.”

Ehrlich further explained that Health Services would still be located in the Health Center on campus, but that it will be now run by Ayla Brayley, a certified registered nurse practitioner (CRNP). She elaborated that many of the prior Health Services staff will be returning alongside WellSpan staff. Brayley may be contacted at abraley@wellspan.org.

Health Services will now be operating under a new phone number, which is 717-337-4105. The new partnership does not change Counseling Services, so their phone number will be the same as before: 717-337-6960.

Elhrich noted that while the $25 fee for Health Services visits was suspended for the 2020-21 academic year, it will be in place for visits during the 2021-22 academic year.

To students concerned about the cost, Elhrich said, “The fee should not prevent you from seeking healthcare. If you are unable to pay a visit fee, simply let the Health Services staff know at the time of your visit.”
