Phoebe Doscher ‘22 will serve as editor-in-chief of The Gettysburgian during the 2021-22 academic year for its 124th volume. Nicole DeJacimo ‘22 will join her as managing editor. Both, in addition to the editorial board for the upcoming year, were elected unanimously by The Gettysburgian‘s staff.
Doscher, who previously served as the news editor her sophomore year and magazine editor her junior year, will be succeeding recent graduate Anna Cincotta ‘21. She is an English with a writing concentration and theatre arts double major. Outside of The Gettysburgian, she interns with Gettysburg’s Office of Communications & Marketing, heads the college’s theatre club the Owl & Nightingale Players, and leads Gettysburg College’s chapter of Students Demand Action.
“I know that Phoebe will lead our editorial team with incredible integrity, compassion, and grace — her experience and leadership skills will ensure that this publication continues to inform and engage with our campus community,” Cincotta said. “The Gettysburgian is in amazing hands, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!”
Next in line, DeJacimo, the previous investigations editor and content producer, will work second in command to Doscher. The two have worked side by side at The Gettysburgian since their first years. DeJacimo is a political science major with a double minor in writing and peace & justice studies. This spring and summer she has interned with The Kiplinger Letter as a fact checking intern and reporter at the US Capitol.
Additionally, Katelyn Oglesby ’23 and Carter Hanson ‘23 will head the production of The Gettysburgian’s monthly magazine in the fall and spring semesters, respectively.
“I have the utmost confidence in Carter and Katie as the newest magazine editors,” Doscher said. “They have both proven themselves as hardworking section editors and I’m certain they will guide the magazine through its third year of publication with ease.”
